U.S. CELLULAR TOPS J.D. POWER WIRELESS NETWORK QUALITY RANKING IN NORTH CENTRAL REGION

MILWAUKEE (May 4, 2017) — U.S. Cellular® (NYSE: USM) customers experience the highest wireless network quality, according to the latest J.D. Power 2017 U.S. Wireless Network Quality Performance Study—Volume 1SM. For the second consecutive reporting period, U.S. Cellular has the "Highest Wireless Network Quality Performance in the North Central Region1," and excels in most network areas, especially call and messaging quality.

Since 2006, this is the 18th time2 that U.S. Cellular has received this top quality ranking from J.D. Power in the North Central Region, which includes Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.

The J.D. Power 2017 U.S. Wireless Network Quality Performance Study—Volume 1 is based on responses from 42,922 wireless customers. Now in its 15th year, the semiannual study is based on 10 problem areas of the customer experience: dropped calls; calls not connected; audio issues; failed/late voicemails; lost calls; text transmission failures; late text message notifications; web/app connection errors; slow downloads/apps; and email connection errors. In addition to evaluating the network quality experienced by customers with wireless phones, the study also measures the network performance of tablets and mobile broadband devices. The study was fielded July through December 2016.
