Midwest City Bombers Featured in U.S. Cellular "A Season of Tradition" Documentary
MIDWEST CITY, Okla. (Nov. 6, 2015) – The tradition of success for the Midwest City Bomber football team is second to none, and the team's accomplishments over the past 70 years cannot be overstated. They have had talented players and coaches who have led them to have one of the highest winning percentages in the state, but the local residents say there is more to it than that. What do they say is the force behind this sustained success? It's magic, Bomber Magic. The Midwest City Bombers have a long and rich high school football tradition, and recently the history of that tradition was immortalized in a documentary video as part of U.S. Cellular's "A Season of Tradition" program.
"The Bomber Magic belief flows through the hallways of the high school and throughout the community, and we carry this positive attitude with us throughout our lives," said Dennis Huggins, former Midwest City High School football coach. "I can't wait to see how this documentary inspires the players, students and community to continue to show their support of the Bombers."
After learning of the Midwest City tradition, U.S. Cellular chose the school for one of its "A Season of Tradition" documentary videos. As a company that is committed to bringing communities together, it created the program to showcase and celebrate the schools and fans who come together to support the players in their local communities. Additional high school football programs in Salem, Va., and Clintonville, Wis., are also being featured in documentaries as part of the program.
"The Bomber Magic belief that is alive in the community is so inspiring to witness, so we knew right away that we wanted to feature Midwest City High School in our program," said Michelle Bennett, senior field marketing manager for U.S. Cellular. "At U.S. Cellular, we strive to be a part of the local communities where we live, work and play, and we look forward to watching the Bombers play the rest of the season."
In addition to the documentary, U.S. Cellular will provide the school with a new giant inflatable helmet for the players to run through before home games. For the documentary, U.S. Cellular's crew traveled throughout the city and interviewed alumni of Midwest City High School, current and former football players, boosters and local business owners.
