Medford, Ore., April 19, 2012 – U.S. Cellular continues its commitment and investment in the Medford community with its sponsorship of the third annual U.S. Cellular Beat of the Rogue Drum Corps Event, happening Thursday, June 28 at U.S. Cellular Community Park and featuring performances by Drum Corps International world finalists. At a press conference held this morning at U.S. Cellular Community Park, U.S. Cellular and the Kiwanis Club of Medford announced the participating bands, including the return of the Oregon Crusaders of Portland as well as groups from Denver and Boston.

U.S. Cellular and the Kiwanis Club of Medford will also donate a minimum of $1,000 each to North Medford High School, Phoenix High School and Talent Middle School, who are hosting the participating marching bands this summer.

"The musicians that perform at the Beat of the Rogue show their competitive spirit and create a fun event for friends and family to get together to see and hear a great show," said Roberta Winger, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in Oregon and California. "We're happy to provide this opportunity for Medford area residents to see this unique and exciting talent in action."

The Oregon Crusaders, which is comprised of brass, percussion and colorguard performers ages 16 to 21, originated in Medford and features members from Phoenix High School and Grants Pass High School. The Crusaders will be joined by the Blue Knights of Denver and the Boston Crusaders, one of the oldest drum corps in the nation. Each drum corps consists of 110 to 150 individuals who participate and go on a national circuit to perform and compete.

In its 89th year of service to the children of Medford and Southern Oregon, the Kiwanis of Medford is pleased to once again partner with
U.S. Cellular in presenting Beat of the Rogue 2012.

Ralph Browning, 2011-2012 President of the Kiwanis Club remarked that, "Beat of the Rogue since it's inception in 2010 has raised funds in support of playground equipment for the Santo Community Center ($12,000), funding to local schools for hosting Corps ($7,600) and Kiwanis Doernbecher Children's Cancer Program ($1,200). This would not be possible without the support of our sponsors, advertisers and event patrons. Each plays an important role in making Southern Oregon a caring community. Our special thanks to U.S. Cellular for being an exceptionally caring member of our community."

Gates open at 6:30 p.m. and the performances begin at 7:30. Tickets for the event are available at the Medford Parks & Recreation Office's Santo Center, located on the corner of West Jackson and North Columbus streets. Tickets are also available by calling 541-774-2400 (VISA and MasterCard accepted). Pre-event general admission prices are $13 and reserved seats are $20.
