CELLULAR BUILDS NEW CELL SITE IN OKLAHOMA CITY
OKLAHOMA CITY, April 18, 2011 – U.S. Cellular continues to invest in its high-speed nationwide network with a new cell site in Oklahoma City to help residents and businesses stay connected to the web, e-mail and the people who matter most to them. The new site will increase U.S. Cellular's coverage in the downtown area near the Lincoln Boulevard and Reno Avenue intersection and is one of more than 600 towers U.S. Cellular has built across the state. U.S. Cellular has the highest call quality and network satisfaction of any national carrier.
The network enhancement follows U.S. Cellular's launch of The Belief Project, an array of innovative initiatives that recognize customer loyalty with bundled national plans that offer customers the freedom to enjoy benefits without signing continuous contracts. With "no contract after the first," new customers who complete a two-year contract will never have to sign another one and will continue to get guaranteed upgrades to the newest phones at promotional prices every 18 months. Customers get valuable rewards just for being customers and can get even faster upgrades in as little as 10 months when they use their rewards.
"Providing a high-quality network and a wide selection of cutting-edge devices backed by our unmatched customer benefits are our top priorities," said Tommy Arens, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in Oklahoma. "It's important to us that every call, text and e-mail gets through so our customers can have everything they need at their fingertips."
To select locations for new towers, U.S. Cellular has teams of system performance engineers who drive through the company's network coverage area, sometimes hundreds of miles a day, to test the signal strength and call quality. U.S. Cellular also listens to customer feedback to find the communities that would benefit from another tower.
With U.S. Cellular's high-speed nationwide network, websites open faster and e-mails download more quickly on the company's line of Android-powered devices, BlackBerry and Windows smartphones like the Samsung Mesmerize (a Galaxy S phone), the HTC Desire and BlackBerry Bold.
