U.S. Cellular Associates Help Spruce Up Local School Grounds

BANGOR, Maine, April 26, 2010 –In celebration of Earth Day, hundreds of U.S. Cellular associates nationwide are volunteering with nonprofit organizations and schools to make their communities a little "greener."

Locally, U.S. Cellular associates partnered with more than 40 fourth and fifth graders from Fairmount Middle School to lead a clean-up of the school's grounds on Monday, April 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

"This is a great way to ensure a more beautiful, clean and healthy environment for our students and faculty," said Mary Evans, fifth grade teacher with Fairmount Middle School. "We appreciate the hard work of U.S. Cellular associates in cleaning up our school grounds after a very long winter."

Nationwide, U.S. Cellular associates regularly participate in volunteer activities. Last year, they surpassed a company-wide challenge donating more than 30,000 hours in their communities.

"We are thrilled to participate this year and to help kids from Fairmount Middle School understand the value of caring for where they learn and play," said Eric Conlon, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in New England. "It is a great opportunity for our associates to make a positive impact and have some fun."
