MILWAUKEE, Feb. 9, 2009 - U.S. Cellular presented the staff of seven Boys & Girls Clubs around Wisconsin with 100 phones as part of its commitment to supporting youth in the state. Receiving phones and a free year of service are Boys & Girls Clubs in Greater Milwaukee, Dane County, Wisconsin Rapids, Fond du Lac, LaCrosse, Oshkosh and Sheboygan County.

"To make sure we keep our kids safe at all times, we need to be able to communicate quickly and easily," said Jim Clark, President of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee. "These phones will give us all some peace of mind."

Gov. Jim Doyle announced that U.S. Cellular would donate 100 phones to Boys & Girls Clubs across Wisconsin at a Milwaukee Brewers game last season. U.S. Cellular, in conjunction with Brewers Charities and outfielder Ryan Braun, also sponsored the Little Brewers Baseball Club, a program that enables kids from more than two dozen Boys & Girls Clubs to participate in youth baseball.

In the last three years, U.S. Cellular has awarded more than $1 million in charitable funds and United Way donations to nonprofits serving economically disadvantaged youth, families and seniors in Wisconsin.

"We're grateful for the opportunity to support the great work that the Boys & Girls Clubs do for our communities," said Kathy Hust, regional vice president for U.S. Cellular.

For more than 100 years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America have worked to improve the lives of young people across the country. Its mission is to inspire and empower young people to realize their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
