Shared Connect Plans FAQs

  1. 1) What is included in a Shared Connect Plan?

    Shared Connect Plans include unlimited talk, unlimited text and access to tethering.

  2. 2) Can I get a Shared Connect Plan with only data?

    Yes, U.S. Cellular® offers a data-only Shared Connect Plan that is only for connected devices (tablets, wireless modems and hotspots).

  3. 3) Can I get a Shared Connect Plan for just myself?

    Anyone can subscribe to a Shared Connect Plan. The Shared Connect Plan structure allows you to economically share data between your Smartphone and other connected devices (tablets, wireless modems, etc.). Or, select the right data bucket that will fit your individual needs.

  4. 4) What is the Shared Connect Device Connection Charge and how do you calculate a monthly recurring charge (MRC)?

    The Shared Connect Connection charge varies by device type. Please review the pricing here. Monthly Recurring Charge (MRC) is calculated by adding together the Shared Connect Connection charge and the Shared Connect Monthly Charge.

  5. 5) Are Shared Connect Plans eligible for reward points?

    Yes. Shared Connect Plans are eligible for reward points based on the Shared Connect Plan selection. You can earn additional reward points by adding more lines to your account.

  6. 6) Are tablets required to sign contracts in Shared Connect?

    No. Tablets do not need contracts with Shared Connect.

  7. 7) What is the maximum number of devices that can be attached to a Shared Connect Plan?

    You can add up to 10 devices. Business Accounts can add up to 25 devices based on the rate plan chosen.

  8. 8) I am a current customer, and I am under contract. Do I need to sign another 2-year contract when I migrate to a new Shared Connect Plan?

    Yes, you must sign a new 2-year commitment when migrating to a Shared Connect Plan.

  9. 9) I am a current customer who has already fulfilled my 2-year contract, and now I am month-to-month. Do I need to sign another 2-year contract when I migrate to a new Shared Connect Plan?

    Yes, you must sign a new 2-year commitment when migrating to a Shared Connect Plan.

  10. 10) If I am a new customer and I would like to sign up for a new Shared Connect Plan, do I have to sign a 2-year contract?

    Yes, you must sign a new 2-year commitment when signing up for a new Shared Connect Plan.

  11. 11) Will I experience a reduction in speed on a Shared Connect plan?

    You may be affected if you have a 3G Wireless Device (if you have a 4G LTE device you will not be impacted while on the 4G Network), if you go over your data limit, or if you use more than 200MB of roaming data. For more information, see the Data Management FAQs

  12. 12) If I add the Data Usage Controls feature, will data usage be blocked at precisely the set limit, or is it still possible to go a little over?

    The Data Usage Control will cap the data when it measures that the data usage has reached its assigned limit. Note that data usage measurements are not immediate and may take up to 24 hours to register. Actual data usage may exceed the limit you set before data usage is blocked and overage charges may apply.
