U.S. Cellular® Privacy Protector FAQs

Introducing U.S. Cellular® Privacy Protector

U.S. Cellular Privacy Protector is the ultimate password-protected privacy application for those private calls, pictures, videos, and Facebook interactions that you'd like to keep secure. In the wrong hands, your privacy can be compromised. Privacy Protector removes the privacy risks you face if your phone is lost or stolen by giving you control over what others can see. For an extra layer of security, you're also able to hide the app icon so that no one knows that it exists.

Key Features

Photos / Videos protection
Protect your private photos/videos by importing them into your Privacy Protector so only you can see them. All files will be encrypted and can only be viewed in Privacy Protector after entering the correct master password.

Messages & Call logs protection / Private contacts
Encrypt and store your sensitive text messages/call logs. The strong encryption and password protection ensures they'll be hidden from everyone but you.
If a phone number is added to private contacts, all messages and call logs from/to this number will be automatically hidden and no longer appear in the phone's SMS / call logs.

Fake Vault (Premium)
You can protect your 'real Vault' by creating one or more 'fake Vaults'. If someone insists on you providing them your password, you can show them your 'fake Vault'.

Break-in Attempts (Premium)
Using your phone's front-facing camera, the Break-in Attempts feature catches intruders in the act and takes a mug shot with the time stamp and the wrong password used.

Stealth mode (Premium)
Stealth mode allows users to completely hide Privacy Protector's icon on the phone's home or app screen. When stealth mode is on, the Privacy Protector icon will disappear. It can be opened again by calling ## and your password from within the phone dialer.

Vault Online (Premium)
Back up your private data to the cloud. Data is securely encrypted and can only be accessed by you.

Getting Started

How do I download Privacy Protector?
Privacy Protector is available for U.S. Cellular Android devices only. You can download it from Google Play. If you have U.S Cellular's Mobile Data Security you may download Privacy Protector by going to the Tools section.
Make sure you don't have other apps installed on your phone that perform similar functions, which may conflict with Privacy Protector and cause performance issues.

Why won't Privacy Protector download properly?
To quickly resolve any downloading issues, try checking your network connection first. Unstable network connections can cause downloads to fail. If you suspect that your connection is unstable, try moving to a place with a stronger signal or switching to a stronger, more stable access point. To change your wireless network settings, go to Menu > Settings > Wireless & Network > Access point.

Why doesn't Privacy Protector run after installation?
If you run into this problem and you can see the app's icon on your phone, check that:
• You have enough memory and free spaces on your device.
• You don't have any similar apps installed before and may conflict with Privacy Protector.
• Double check if the installation process has been completed. If it hasn't, then re-install it.
If you can't see the app icon on your phone, try reinstalling the latest version of Privacy Protector.
