Premium Messaging Content allows you to participate in third party Messaging programs that charge fees above standard Text Messaging rates. These fees are either for the content that is sent to your phone or for participation in a program. Text Messages are sent to, or received from, programs using 3 to 6 digit numbers called short codes in place of phone numbers. Participation in these programs, such as directory assistance alerts, chat programs and collect calling, is made easy by using your U.S. Cellular® phone.

There are two types of Premium Messaging Content programs: Subscriptions and Pay-Per-Use. Subscriptions are billed on a monthly basis and will continue to charge monthly until cancelled. Pay-Per-Use programs are billed as a one time charge
The sign up process for Premium Messaging Content programs can be performed from your phone or through the program's website.
