Premium Messaging Content

Premium Messaging Content

Premium Messaging Content allows you to participate in third party Messaging programs that charge fees above standard Text Messaging rates. These fees are either for the content that is sent to your phone or for participation in a program. Text Messages are sent to, or received from, programs using 3 to 6 digit numbers called short codes in place of phone numbers. Participation in these programs, such as directory assistance alerts, chat programs and collect calling, is made easy by using your U.S. Cellular® phone.

Sign Up Process

The sign up process for Premium Messaging Content programs can be performed from your phone or through the program's website.

Phone Sign-Up

  1. The program's advertisement will list the program and pricing information and ask you to send a sign up request via Text Message to a 3 to 6 digit short code
  2. Once that Text Message is received by the program, a Text Message will be sent from the program to your phone
  3. This Text Message confirms the program and pricing information and asks for a reply of "Yes" to accept the charges and confirm enrollment
  4. If "Yes" is sent, the charges and sign up are confirmed and the charge will appear on your U.S. Cellular bill

Website Sign-Up

  1. The program's website will list the program and pricing information and ask you to enter your wireless phone number to initiate enrollment in the program
  2. Once you enter your wireless phone number on the website, a Text Message will be sent from the program to your phone
  3. This Text Message confirms the program and pricing information and provides a PIN number. The PIN number sent to your phone must be entered on the website to sign up for the program
  4. If the PIN number is entered on the website, the charges and sign up are confirmed and the charge will appear on your bill.
If you do not reply "Yes" or do not enter the PIN code on the website, you will not be signed up or charged for the program.

In both circumstances, Text Messages are sent to your phone to ensure that you are in possession of the phone before completing the sign up process.

NOTE: To receive multimedia content like picture and video you need a multimedia capable (MMS enabled) phone.

Cancellation Process

The cancellation process for Premium Messaging Content programs can be performed from your phone.

  1. Either reply "stop" to a Text Message from the program or text "stop" to the program's short code
  2. After stop is sent, future charges will not be billed from the program. Content that has already been charged for, but not delivered, may still be sent to your phone
