U.S. Cellular hosting fundraising event for "Alex's Ride Across America"
Pasco, Wash. (June 13, 2013) –U.S. Cellular is hosting an event at its Pasco retail store on Saturday, June 15 to support a fundraising effort for The Wounded Warrior Project, a non-profit organization that helps wounded members of the military transition back to civilian life. Alex LaVoie has been bicycling across America to raise donations and awareness for the organization since February. He started in St. Augustine, Fla., and plans to finish in Seattle, Wash., in early July. He and his wife, Helen, sold their house in the Tri-Cities before starting this trip.
"We are excited to host Alex and Helen at our store here in Pasco as they make this journey," said Ben Tatro, store manager for U.S. Cellular in Pasco. "We wanted to create a fun event that families can enjoy while supporting their amazing efforts."
From 12:00 p.m. to 1:30, residents can stop by the U.S. Cellular store at 5024 Road 68 in Pasco to meet Alex and Helen while they make a stop along their route. There will also be a Bounce House for kids and drinks and refreshments for everyone. Alex and Helen will be accepting donations for the Wounded Warrior Project.
"I wanted to do something to support our military personnel and I thought this would be a great way to raise awareness and donations for this organization," said Alex. "It's nice to be back in the Tri-Cities and I appreciate U.S. Cellular setting up this event to help us reach more people in this community."
