U.S. Cellular celebrates opening of Missouri's first interactive, digital store in Joplin

High-concept store offers unique customer experience

JOPLIN, Mo. (November 8, 2012) – U.S. Cellular celebrated its new high-concept store in Joplin during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8. The new store, located at 1630 S Rangeline Rd., is designed to enhance the wireless shopping experience through innovative design and interactive technology. It's the first store of its kind in Missouri and only the fourth prototype store the Chicago-based wireless company has opened across the country.

"At U.S. Cellular, we treat our customers like neighbors not numbers, and our stores are designed with them in mind," said Tommy Arens, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in Joplin.

"We're thrilled to bring this high-concept store to Joplin, built on the same site as our previous store, which was destroyed in the 2011 tornado. This new store is built with state-of-the-art features that make shopping an easy and enjoyable experience. It is the perfect complement to our cutting-edge device lineup, high-speed nationwide network and the unique benefits of being a U.S. Cellular customer."

The highly experiential store has a 2,200 square-foot showroom and features interactive technology so customers can easily compare phones, features and plans. It has a lounge area for customers and U.S. Cellular associates to engage in a more comfortable shopping experience. Convenient queuing stations let customers keep track of their place in line if they are waiting for service.

Customers can test out U.S. Cellular's cutting-edge devices that include the Samsung Galaxy S® III and other Android-powered, Windows Phone and BlackBerry® devices. Customers will enjoy faster Web browsing and quick app downloads with access to U.S. Cellular's high-speed nationwide network.

Officials from the Joplin Chamber of Commerce joined U.S. Cellular representatives to officially cut the ribbon to celebrate the wireless carrier's most recent investment in the Joplin business community.

The Joplin store employs 16 associates and is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. The store's phone number is 417-439-7600.

U.S. Cellular had previously opened a temporary store location on E. 7th St., which has been replaced by this new store.
