LA GRANGE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NAMED A 2011 U.S. CELLULAR CALLING ALL COMMUNITIES CHAMPION

School Captures $50,000 in Wireless Carrier's $1 Million Nationwide Contest

LA GRANGE, N.C., Oct. 27, 2011 – U.S. Cellular associates stopped by La Grange Elementary School yesterday with a surprise announcement that the school has been named a 2011 Champion in U.S. Cellular's Calling All Communities campaign, which comes with a $50,000 prize.

La Grange Elementary School is the 13th of 18 winners to be announced in the wireless carrier's nationwide $1 million contest. Other winning schools will continue to be revealed throughout October and November. The school is planning a special Calling All Communities event to celebrate their victory.

"It was great to surprise the school and share the news that they had won," said Kimberly Sebastian, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in eastern North Carolina. "This money should help make a difference for the students at the school, which is why U.S. Cellular continues its commitment to education. It's one of the reasons we have the happiest customers in wireless."

This is the third year that U.S. Cellular has awarded $1 million to schools through Calling All Communities. The campaign continues to grow with more than 1.5 million votes being cast this year for 2,700 schools nationwide. U.S. Cellular associates also visited five other schools in eastern North Carolina in the past two weeks: Fremont Stars Elementary School in Freemont, North Drive Elementary School in Goldsboro, Tommy's Road Elementary School in Goldsboro, Wayne Christian School in Goldsboro and Hobbton Middle School in Newton Grove to tell them they are 2011 Calling All Communities champions as well. To date, U.S. Cellular has awarded more than $700,000 to North Carolina schools through this campaign.

"Our entire community rallied together to bring this money to La Grange Elementary," said Brian Yarbrough, assistant principal, La Grange Elementary School. "We now have the means to do some much needed improvements to our campus."

Through this year's Calling All Communities contest, a total of 17 schools will receive $50,000 each, and the school with the most votes earns the top prize of $150,000. Winnings can be used any way the school sees fit to enhance students' learning experience.
