IMMACULATE CONCEPTION SCHOOL NAMED A 2011 U.S. CELLULAR CALLING ALL COMMUNITIES CHAMPION

Jefferson City School Captures $50,000 in Wireless Carrier's $1 Million Nationwide Contest

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., Oct. 21, 2011 – U.S. Cellular associates stopped by Immaculate Conception School today with a surprise announcement that the school has been named a 2011 Champion in U.S. Cellular's Calling All Communities campaign, which comes with a $50,000 prize.

Immaculate Conception is the seventh of 18 winners to be announced in the wireless carrier's nationwide $1 million contest. Other winning schools will continue to be revealed throughout October and November. The school is planning a special Calling All Communities event to celebrate their victory.

"It was wonderful to visit and surprise the school to share the news that they had won," said Nathan Waddell, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in Missouri. "We know this money will help make a difference for the students at the school, which is why U.S. Cellular continues its commitment to education. It's one of the reasons we have the happiest customers in wireless."

This is the third year that U.S. Cellular has awarded $1 million to schools through Calling All Communities. The campaign continues to grow with more than 1.5 million votes being cast this year for 2,700 schools nationwide. Immaculate Conception is the second Missouri school to become a Calling All Communities champion. St. Francis Xavier in Taos, Mo., won $100,000 in 2009.

"U.S. Cellular's Calling All Communities program is appropriately named, it took an entire community coming together to help our school win," said Mrs. Jill Struemph, principal, Immaculate Conception School, following the surprise announcement. "There is no way we could have accomplished this without the help of the parents, community and parishioners. I am very grateful to all of them – what a blessing!"

Through this year's Calling All Communities contest, a total of 17 schools will receive $50,000 each, and the school with the most votes earns the top prize of $150,000. Winnings can be used any way the school sees fit to enhance students' learning experience.

Principal Struemph confirmed that Immaculate Conception plans to use the $50,000 for technology enhancements. "The technology in our school needs beefing up," she said. "We need new computers for the school."
