CHRIST COVENANT SCHOOL NAMED A 2011 U.S. CELLULAR CALLING ALL COMMUNITIES CHAMPION

School Captures $50,000 in Wireless Carrier's $1 Million Nationwide Contest

GREENVILLE, N.C., Nov. 1, 2011 – U.S. Cellular associates stopped by Christ Covenant School yesterday with a surprise announcement that the school has been named a 2011 Champion in U.S. Cellular's Calling All Communities campaign, which comes with a $50,000 prize.

Christ Covenant School is the 17th of 18 winners to be announced in the wireless carrier's nationwide $1 million contest and is the final $50,000 winner. The school is planning a special Calling All Communities event to celebrate their victory.

"Surprising the school with the news that they had won was exciting for many of our Greenville associates," said Kimberly Sebastian, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in eastern North Carolina. "We know this money will help make a difference for the students at the school, which is why U.S. Cellular continues its commitment to education. It's one of the reasons we have the happiest customers in wireless."

This is the third year that U.S. Cellular has awarded $1 million to schools through Calling All Communities. The campaign continues to grow with more than 1.5 million votes being cast this year for 2,700 schools nationwide. U.S. Cellular associates also visited six other schools in eastern North Carolina in the past two weeks: Fremont Stars Elementary School in Fremont, North Drive Elementary School in Goldsboro, Tommy's Road Elementary School in Goldsboro, Wayne Christian School in Goldsboro, Hobbton Middle School in Newton Grove and La Grange Elementary in La Grange to tell them they are 2011 Calling All Communities champions. To date, U.S. Cellular has awarded more than $750,000 to North Carolina schools through this campaign.

"Watching our small school work so hard to win is a true testament to the power of community," said Ms. Brenda Brown, head of Christ Covenant School, following the surprise announcement. "There is no way we could have accomplished this without the help of the parents, community and many local churches supporting our efforts. Our students will reap the benefits of this win for years to come."

Through this year's Calling All Communities contest, a total of 17 schools received $50,000 each, and the school with the most votes earns the top prize of $150,000. Winnings can be used any way the school sees fit to enhance students' learning experience.
