U.S. CELLULAR DONATES 12 CELL PHONES AND YEAR-LONG WIRELESS SERVICE TO THE ST. LOUIS SOCIETY FOR THE PHYSICALLY DISABLED
St. Louis, Mo., Jan. 25, 2010 – U.S. Cellular is helping a local nonprofit organization meet its wireless needs with a donation of 12 cell phones, each with one year of free service, to the St. Louis Society for the Physically Disabled. The nonprofit organization will use the phones to allow drivers and staff to stay in contact with participant's guardians and to have in case of an emergency.
"Annually, our fleet of vans provides over 6,000 trips for children and adults with physical disabilities," said Patricia McClain, director of development for the St. Louis Society for the Physically Disabled. "The phones donated by U.S. Cellular will help to ensure the safety of our participants while traveling in our vans and attending the programs that we provide. We are very thankful for U.S. Cellular."
Founded in 1927, the St. Louis Society for the Physically Disabled works to empower area residents with physical disabilities through unique and innovative support, recreation, transportation and advocacy. The organization currently serves over 400 children and adults throughout the St. Louis area.
