U.S. CELLULAR EXPANDS NETWORK IN SPRAY AREA

Spray, Ore., September 2, 2009 – U.S. Cellular recently completed construction of a cell site in Wheeler County to improve call quality for its customers. The new site in Spray will increase U.S. Cellular's coverage and network capacity around the town of Spray and improve service along State Routes 19 and 207. This is the second site U.S. Cellular has built to provide coverage for residents in Wheeler County. The site complements U.S. Cellular's statewide network of more than 225 towers.

"We need reliable wireless service to protect the health and security of our citizens and public safety officials," said Wheeler County Judge Jeanne Burch. "U.S. Cellular has again answered the call of the residents of Wheeler County to bring wireless service to our area."

U.S. Cellular has a team of network engineers who drive all over the coverage area to test signal strength and call quality. The company also listens to customer feedback to determine the best locations for new cell sites.

"Your cell phone is your lifeline to the people who are most important to you," said Kim Sebastian, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in Oregon and Washington "We're here to keep you connected."

To coincide with the new wireless service in the area, U.S. Cellular will have a Mobile Store in Spray on Sept. 26 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Residents will be able to sign up for new service, purchase new phones and accessories and ask questions.

U.S. Cellular has led the effort to preserve federal support for rural wireless development through Connecting Rural America (www.connectingruralamerica.org), a grassroots coalition of concerned citizens, community leaders and elected officials working for equality in wireless telecommunications. Its goal is to provide rural communities with the same access to technology as their urban counterparts.

The 9,000 associates of U.S. Cellular believe a wireless phone enhances people's lives and a wireless company should be in the business of bringing people together. U.S. Cellular has a wide range of monthly plans, including those with unlimited nationwide calling, unlimited free incoming calls and options to prepay. The company has a growing catalog of phones like the BlackBerry® Pearl and Curve, and the touch-screen Samsung Delve, which offer e-mail and Web access. Based in Chicago, U.S. Cellular is the nation's fifth-largest full-service wireless carrier, serving 6.2 million customers across the country.
