MAYOR JUSTICE & U.S. CELLULAR ANNOUNCE MOUNTAINEER BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB BLACK HISTORY MONTH ART CONTEST WINNERS
MORGANTOWN, W.Va., March 12, 2009 – Mayor Ron Justice joined U.S. Cellular to announce the winners of the Black History Month Art Competition held during the month of February at a Ceremony at the Club's Court Street location today.
For the Black History Month Contest, school students who are members of area boys and girls clubs submitted original artwork recognizing distinguished African Americans. Entries ranged from business people and sports figures, to historical icons and celebrities. The public voted for the top three artists who were awarded savings bonds.

The three winners were:
- 1st place: Ayana Cabbell who received a $500 U.S. Savings bond for a portrait of President Barack Obama.
- 2nd place: Rune Greenfield was awarded a $200 U.S. Savings bond for a portrait of President Barack Obama.
- 3rd place: Gene Hess won a $150 U.S. Savings bond for a a portrait of President Barack Obama.
Dee Taylor, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in the Mid-Atlantic, was also impressed with the dynamic contest entries. "All of the children did an amazing job and represent the true wealth of talent in this community. Through their creativity, we were able to learn more about the importance of African American's in our country's history."
